Doing Good Is A Business was founded by nonprofit executive and sector consultant Jaemellah Jackson, who brings over a decade of experience in nonprofit startup development, board governance, and organizational capacity building.

She leads the firm’s Governance Practice, specializing in grassroots board development and founder-led organizations preparing for growth. Jaemellah Jackson is a mother, nonprofit founder, consultant, and all things nonprofit management.

Mrs. Jackson holds an Associate’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelors in Business  Management from University of Phoenix. She obtained her Masters in Nonprofit & Association  Management from University of Maryland University College (now UMGC) in May 2014.

In June 2015, Mrs. Jackson was appointed to UMGC’s Board of Directors as the Programming Committee Vice President. She went on to earn the 2015 Achiever’s Award, recorded a marketing campaign for the  university’s nonprofit program, and was spotlighted in 2018 as a University System of Maryland (USM) entrepreneur at the USM Chancellor’s home for her leadership through IT TAKES TWO, INC and its  impact on communities.  You may recall her regionally aired commercial in running from 2015-2017.

Mrs. Jackson's willingness to help single parents and youth inspired her to found IT TAKES TWO, INC in  2012, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that awards scholarships to students living in single parent homes and provides youth programming. To date, the organization has awarded 40 scholarships totaling  over $16,000 to students in grades four (4) through college.

Mrs. Jackson extends her love for community through Doing Good is a Business, formerly Jaemellah Kemp Consulting, a nonprofit start up firm that assists aspiring and new nonprofit founders to build successful nonprofits founded on sound principles and relevant information. Mrs. Jackson celebrates 100% 501(c)(3) approval rate over the past nine years. Nonprofit start up and board development are her niche service areas.

In October 2020, Mrs. Jackson became a first-time author penning her first published work in the co-authored compilation, The Nonprofit Legacy. She published her first ebook, 20 Must-Ask Questions to Recruit a Rockstar Board, in December 2025.
